Matt & Stephanie’s yarra valley wedding was held on 12th March 2016 at the beautiful Alowyn Gardens and was then followed by a reception for friends and family at Zonzo Estate.
Below are some words from our lovely bride and groom about how they met, their wedding day and their hopes for their future together.
Q. When and how did you meet? And what were your first thoughts?
A. We met lining up for tickets to Meredith Music Festival on Greville street in Prahran in 2008. For me (Steph) it was love at first sight. Matt was sitting in a deck chair third in line, I was second, reading a text book. For Matt, he found me interesting and boisterous. I was 18, he was 25. Matt asked for my number after lining up for over 12 hours together and I replied by saying it was already in his phone.
Q. When and how did the proposal take place and how did you feel?
A. Matt proposed to me at the botanical gardens in the city on a Saturday afternoon. He had originally planned to take me up to Mount Dandenong, which is a place we go often to have picnics and read, but he thought it was going to be too cold up there, so we went to the botanical gardens instead. This followed breakfast at our favourite café and was followed by dinner at our favourite restaurant and a night in the city. Although we had been together for 7 years this came as a surprise, as Matt had originally taken me ring shopping on the first of January. It was now mid September.
Q. Where are you going on your honeymoon? Please include dates of departure & return.
A. San Francisco and Hawaii.
Q. What are your future plans together (e.g. buying a house/starting a family)
A. Travel. We want to travel Europe thoroughly before having children. And would like to buy a house sometime. But travel. We want to travel. With all my surgeries we are really looking forward to exploring the world together and having heaps of adventures together.
Q. Where is your ceremony and reception being held and why did you choose these venues?
A. Ceremony at Alowyn Gardens
in Yarra Glen because it has a beautiful wisteria archway and amazing flora. The reception is at Zonzo estate which we chose for its vibrant atmosphere, beautiful surrounds and amazing, delicious food. We are really into food and the way it brings people together and that is how we want our wedding to feel.
Q. What does your wedding dress look like? Please give a detailed description and also include any accessories including jewellery and shoes.
A. It is all lace except for a small beaded/diamanté belt. Ivory and gold. With a low cut back and a little bit of cleavage. There is a long train that will be bustled for dancing. I have a short veil. I’m also wearing a necklace Matt bought me a few years ago and I bought some matching earrings to wear with that. I cant remember where the necklace was from. I’m still undecided on bracelets and will see how I feel on the day. I’m wearing some gold Jimmy Choo shoes which were a gift from one of my mother in laws to be.
