James and Justine were married on 10th December 2016 @ the lovely beachside venue Trenavin Chapel.  There ceremony was followed by a reception held at The Cape Kitchen on the other side of Phillip Island.  Here are some words from our bride and groom about how they came to be together, their wedding day and their plans for their future together.

  • Q. When and how did you meet? And what were your first thoughts?
    A. We met in 2006 on Justine’s 18th birthday at the Wheeler’s Hill hotel and waved hello to each other as we were introduced. Little did we know that about a month later we would meet again at schoolies on the gold coast where things really took off! When we first met we both thought instantly that the other had amazing eyes which were the first thing i noticed when i saw him again and said hey i know you!
  • Q. When and how did the proposal take place and how did you feel?
    A. The proposal took place in Apollo bay on the 10th of April 2015. James said he was taking me on a surprise trip and wouldn’t tell me where we were going and as i needed to use the bathroom at the beach we stopped to also have a drink on the beach. about twenty minutes after sitting on the beach James asked me if i wanted to go i said yes please its freezing! And i stood up and turned around and he was on one knee with a ring box in hand! he asked me to marry him and I said yes immediately about a hundred times!

After saying a couple of nights at our favorite place to stay in Apollo Bay – Chris’ Beacon Point James ran off at breaky to grab something from the room and came back with another surprise which when i opened i could not believe! It was plane tickets to Queensland! He had planned it all and got the time off work for me from my boss and we headed off to the airport after breaky and spend the next five days celebrating in the sun on the gold coast!

    A. We are going to Europe for one month for our honey moon. We are traveling to Paris, Greek Islands, Italy, Monaco and Dubai.

phillip island winery wedding – Dave & Louise

Dave & Louise’s Phillip Island Winery wedding was held on the 12th April 2014.  Here are some words from the bride about how the couple met and their fantastic wedding day…

Q. When and how did you meet? And what were your first thoughts?
A. We met online and had our first face to face meeting at Cookie in Swanston Street in January 2012. Initially we were both quite nervous but after a drink or two the conversation started to flow and we found out each was much better than we both ever expected.
Q. When and how did the proposal take place and how did you feel?
A. Dave proposed on his 33rd birthday in Queens Park Moonee Ponds. It came as a big surprise to me as I thought I had planed the picnic in the park at our special spot for his birthday celebration, and all the while he had this secret proposal in mind. Dave could barely get the words out and I was balling my eyes out. Initially Dave claims I didn’t even answer him.  I just got my phone out to call my mum and sisters and after all the calls he said ‘is that a yes’?
Q. Where are you going on your honeymoon?
A. We have already had our honeymoon in October 2013. We went on an amazing 4 week holiday in Europe. We started in London and took in as many sites as possible. The went to Copenhagen and Stockholm to visit Dave’s cousin. After this we took the most scenic train either of us has even been on from Oslo to Bergen in Norway. The train went through mountains, fjords and even a glacia (this was definitely a real highlight of our trip). From Norway we moved onto a warmer Italy. We spent a lot of time in Italy and loved the warmed weather and all the delicious food and especially the gelati. From Italy we went to Paris and both fell in love with this beautiful city and can’t wait to return again one day. After the wedding we are planing 2 nights away in the Yarra Valley at Balgownie Estate to recover after the wedding.
Q. What are your future plans together (e.g. buying a house/starting a family)
A. We hope to renovate and extend our beautiful new home before hopefully starting our own family.
Q. Where is your ceremony and reception being held and why did you choose these venues?
A. Our ceremony is at Trenavin Chapel in Phillip Island. We both fell in love with the chapel from afar while walking along the beach and knew it was the place we had to get married.
The reception is at the Phillip Island Vineyard and Winery and we decided on this after meeting the owners and seeing the grounds and again falling in love. We loved the relaxed country feel and once we met Tim we knew the place would meet all of our needs well.
Q. What does your wedding dress look like? Please give a detailed description and also include any accessories including jewellery and shoes.
A. My wedding dress is from Melbourne designer Gwendolynne Burkin. My dress is a perfect example of Gwendolynne’s design approach which explores tradition in a contemporary way. It is ladylike (without feeling over the top) and combines delicate fabric with vintage-style embellishment. It is elegant, sensual and romantic and reminds me of something out of the 1920′s.
Hair piece is a beautiful hand beaded oval comb by Melbourne milliner Richard Nylon.
Earrings are beautiful vintage inspired ‘bow peep’ drop earrings with a touch of glamour by Australian designer Stephanie Browne.
Shoes are embellished open toe Alan Pinkus heels.
Q. Do you have a Theme or style to your wedding? And if so, what is it?
A. No real theme, just country, relaxed with a lot of homemade touches.
