phillip island wedding photography – Harley & Michelle

Harley & Michelle held their wedding ceremony at the Lions Park overlooking Phillip island.  They then partied on at Phillip Island’s Rusty Water Brewery Restaurant & Bar.  Below is a bit more about the couple, how they met, their wedding day and their future plans together:
Q. When and how did you meet? And what were your first thoughts?
A. Harley and i met in Venus Bay when we were 19 while i was staying at my holiday house with friends. We literally just bumped into each other in the street (With a bit of help from his friends) then again that night at a random holiday house party where we got talking.
Q. When and how did the proposal take place and how did you feel?
A. The proposal took place at Mount Hotham on the summit run last year. Harley was on his “Boys trip” and i was on my “Girls trip” of the year so it was totally unexpected. Our good friend Ash (Aka Sog) called me that morning with a lie that i really needed to see Harley’s new amazing trick he had been working on. After an hour or so of him calling me i though id better go and see what this was all about! When i finally got there Harley was snowboarding down the mountain to me dressed in a tuxedo. He got down on one knee and pulled a ring out of his pocket while the boys filmed with their GoPro’s. I was in total shock but couldn’t wipe the smile off my face! Next was champagnes of course at Swindlers and more boarding and partying that night with our friends. Harley put together a really sweet video of all the GoPro footage from the day which was really special to be able to share with our friends and family.
Q. Where are you going on your honeymoon? Please include dates of departure & return.
A. We are both lucky enough to be due for long service leave so we were able to plan the “Snow Trip/Honeymoon of a lifetime.”
We will be starting in Germany then to Austria where we will visit Harley’s Family who we know and love! We are also excited to get back to Innsbruck to see “Air and style” a music festival/Big air snowboard event put on by Shaun White. Then to America where we will see the Black Hawks play in Chicago, Snow board at Jackson Hole, visit NY, Vegas, Park City (More snow boarding), LA, and Sequoia National Park to name a few. Next is Canada where we will visit Whistler then over to Hawaii on the way home.
Q. What are your future plans together?
A. Being together for 12 years now we have already built two houses together and we have now settled in to our “forever home”. Future plans include chasing the snow, lots of travelling and one day starting a family.
Q. Where is your ceremony and reception being held and why did you choose these venues?
A. The ceremony will take place on the cliffs overlooking the beach in San Remo. When we moved to the area we fell in love with this particular beach and never even thought of getting married anywhere else. The reception will be at the Rusty water Brewery in Cowes. We wanted a casual reception with not much fuss so it was perfect for us.
Q. What does your wedding dress look like? Please give a detailed description and also include any accessories including jewellery and shoes.
A. My wedding dress is a beautiful Lace appliques on fine tulle by Stella York. It is strapless with a sweetheart neckline and a corset closure.
Q. Hair & Makeup – please describe what your hair and makeup is like and who the suppliers are.
A. Hair and makeup by the talented Jess McCurdy.
Q. Who is the person conducting your service? (celebrant, minister, priest etc).
A. We are lucky enough to have Julia from Julia’s celebrancy services. She is the sister of one of our beautiful friends Sarah and her motto is “Fun, sincere and relaxed!” I couldn’t imagine having anyone else!
Q. Florist – what are your flowers like & who is the supplier?

A. Our flowers and ceremony set up is by Whoops a daisy florist in Cranbourne. Harley and i just happened to be at the beach on a day they were setting up for another wedding and it looked beautiful. We asked if they could come back in November and it was just that easy! The bouquet consists of emanuelle roses, babies breath and blush/cream seasonal flowers.

Also my best friend is preparing the flowers for my reception. Sandra grew up on a flower farm in Silvan and her parents have been so generous and kind to help out with some beautiful orchards which we will use to decorate the reception!

Q. Wedding Favours & Cake – what are they like and who is the supplier?
A. Our cake a rough iced three tier chocolate cake with fresh flowers placed on a polished timbre slice by Elaine’s Cakes in Cowes.
Q. Transport – what mode of transport did you choose and who was the supplier?
A. Our good friends Troy and Shar have really spoilt us with the amazing gift of our car hire for the day. We were thinking of not having cars until they found us the perfect one.. A Bright blue Kombi appropriately named “Betty.” I’m so excited to surprise everyone (And maybe give them a bit of a laugh) when we cruise down to the ceremony in this awesome car!
Q. Food & Drink – what are they like and who is the supplier if not venue?
A. We are having a cocktail reception with a range of delicious canapes at the Rusty Water Brewery with local wines, craft beers and ciders.

San Remo Wedding – Beau & Lucy

Beau & Lucy’s San Remo Wedding was held at the Foreshore overlooking the ocean on Saturday 1 March 2014, followed by a backyard wedding at Beau’s parents house.  Here are a few words from our gippsland bride on how they met and about their wedding day.
Q. When and how did you meet? And what were your first thoughts?
A. We met when we were 15 and 16 at high school and through football/netball. It’s still debatable who said hello to who first….
Q. When and how did the proposal take place and how did you feel?
A. Beau proposed to me in our apartment as a surprise when I got home from university. He had managed to buy the ring and hide it for weeks (not an easy feat when I had rarely left him alone for months!). Beau had arranged for the florist downstairs to bring up a box of petals which he put along the hall while he waited at the end. Even though we always knew we would be together, it was definitely a surprise! Very happy and exciting!
Q. Where are you going on your honeymoon?
A. We had planned a trip to the UK for July which has become our unofficial honeymoon.
Q. What are your future plans together?
A. We are both still studying and are excited to start exploring our longer term work options over the next few years. Having children has always been a big part of our future plans, which we will hopefully be in a position to to start thinking about soon! We are also keen to squeeze as much traveling and sport in as we can as well.
Q. Where is your ceremony and reception being held and why did you choose these venues?
A. We are having our ceremony at the Lions park on the foreshore in San Remo. This has always been a special spot for us, especially Beau. We love just sitting and looking over the water at sunset. The reception is in Beau’s parent’s backyard. We picked this spot because of the beautiful outlook and because it will allow us to have a personal wedding. It is also conveniently across the road from our high school where we met.
Q. What does your wedding dress look like? Please give a detailed description and also include any accessories including jewellery and shoes.
A. I am very lucky to be able to wear my grandmother’s wedding dress from the 1950s. It is a simple satin strapless dress. My shoe, jewellery and head piece are from Jeanette Maree in Armadale. W
Q. Do you have a Theme or style to your wedding? And if so, what is it?
A. We have gone with a subtle vintage theme to go with my dress
Q. Hair & Makeup – please describe what your hair and makeup is like and who the suppliers are.
A. We are using a local hair and make-up artist and keeping things natural!
Q. Who is the person conducting your service?
A. Our celebrant is Barbara Kaye
Q. Florist – what are your flowers like & who is the supplier?
A. We have been very lucky to have the help of a lovely local florist on the day.
Q. Wedding Favours & Cake – what are they like and who is the supplier?
A. We are having cupcakes made by local cake maker Melva Smith
Q. Transport – what mode of transport did you choose?
A. We are using old 1950s cars for the ceremony.
Q. Food & Drink?
A. Spice Island are catering the night. We have sourced alcohol locally

Phillip Island Wedding – Sandy & Steph

The Phillip Island Wedding of Sandy & Steph began with a reception at the San Remo Lions Park and was then followed by a reception at the Newhaven Hall.  We asked Steph a few questions about themselves and the wedding.  Her responses are below:

How did you meet?
Sandy and I met when my housemate got him around to fix our heater! It was mid February. A week later we got introduced properly and the rest is history!
Where an how did the proposal take place?
Sandy took me to Melbourne for a birthday surprise. We stayed at the Langham Hotel and he was so nervous about proposing, he couldn’t wait until after dinner so he proposed right there in the room!
Where was the wedding held?
Our Wedding ceremony was held in San Remo at the Lions Park over looking the water. Our reception was just over the bridge at the Newhaven hall.
It was catered by Brent Sinclair (brentsinclair16@hotmail.com) who did a fantastic job. We also had Shelley Williams from inspire hire (inspirehire@bigpond.com) as our wedding planner. She took care of everything!
What was the theme or style?
Our theme was vintage, beachy and very relaxed party. Lots of pastel colours, crystal vases and flowers.
Favorite moment?
It’s too hard to pick just one moment!
Honeymoon destination?
Our honeymoon is being kept as a surprise for me. Sandy has it all worked out, so I guess I just have to wait and see.
