David & Melissa – Lyrebird Falls Wedding

Slideshow created on the night of David & Melissa’s Lyrebird Falls Wedding held in the amazing Dandenong Ranges.  Here are some words from our bride & groom about how they met and their planned future together:

Q. When and how did you meet? And what were your first thoughts?
A. The first time we met was at the Belgium beer bar in Melbourne. Dave was at one of his groomsmen’s birthdays, Mel was at one her bridesmaid’s birthdays. But we didn’t get to know each other until a few years later when Dave’s cousin was Mel’s housemate. Mel initially thought Dave was a crazy drunk! But once we got to know each other we fell in love very quickly.
Q. When and how did the proposal take place and how did you feel?
A. Dave proposed at the top of the Eureka tower in Melbourne, a place we hold dear in our relationship as it is the place we first expressed our feelings for each other. It happened in the outdoor area and Mel was terrified she would drop her new shiny ring over the edge! It was romantic and incredibly exciting.
Q. Where are you going on your honeymoon? Please include dates of departure & return (dates are for our info only).
A. Our honeymoon was throughout Europe. A 5 week whirlwind tour going through Italy, France, Scotland, England, Austria and Greece.
Q. What are your future plans together (e.g. buying a house/starting a family)
A. We already have the house so family is next on the cards. And of course raising our fur baby (Kid) together.
Q. Where is your ceremony and reception being held and why did you choose these venues?
A. Our ceremony and reception were held at Lyrebird Falls in Kallista, Dandenong Ranges. We always knew we wanted to get married in the Dandenong Ranges and this venue spoke to us from the moment we saw it. We fell in love.
Q. What does your wedding dress look like? Please give a detailed description and also include any accessories including jewellery and shoes.
A. My dress was from Bluebell Bridal in Melbourne. It was a trumpet silhouette with a champagne satin underlay and a white lace overlay. It had a v-neck with a low cut v-back and beading details across the neckline, straps and backline. It also had a train and I wore a veil pinned low under my messy bun. I wore sparkly Allan Pinkus heels, diamond teardrop earrings and diamond bracelets, borrowed from my mother-in-law and Aunty-in-law. I had a beaded hairpiece at the top of my bun.
Q. Do you have a Theme or style to your wedding? And if so, what is it?
A. Elegant
Q. Hair & Makeup – please describe what your hair and makeup is like and who the suppliers are.
A. Magical makeovers did my hair and makeup. I had a messy bun swept back with a hairpiece and veil tucked in underneath. My makeup was airbrushed with an elegant look.
Q. Who is the person conducting your service? (celebrant, minister, priest etc).
A. Our celebrant was David Schneider. He was amazing throughout the whole process and perfect for us!
Q. Florist – what are your flowers like & who is the supplier?
A. I bought my flowers off Etsy from a store called Hollys Flower Shop. They’re a pastel Sweet Pea Bouquet with Coral, Blue, Pink, Peach and Yellow Peonies & Delphiniums in silk. My bridesmaids had wrist corsages and the boys had boutonnières to match.
Q. Wedding Favours & Cake – what are they like and who is the supplier?
A. Mel’s mum made our wedding cake, a 3 tiered chocolate mud bottom layer, green matcha white chocolate middle tier and chocolate mud top tier. It had turquoise ribbon on the top layer, silver edible foil on the 2nd and lattice on the 3rd. Also it had a turquoise peony on each layer and a double happiness cake topper as well as ‘the look of love’ cake topper. Sounds busy but looked great! Our favours were mini perfume bottles put together by Dave and I with a signature fragrance we each wear. The male guests got Aqua Di Gio and the ladies Burberry Weekend. Each bottle had a label we created and a ribbon.
Q. Food & Drink – what are they like and who is the supplier if not venue?
A. Food was delicious, supplied by Lyrebird Falls. A highlight was the dessert buffet!
