The gippsland wedding of Emma & Mark was held at a beautiful little church in Iona and was then followed by a wedding reception at their property in Ripplebrook. They were married on the 19th March 2016. Here are some words from the couple about how they met, their big day, their amazing honeymoon and what they hope for their future together.
Q. When and how did you meet? And what were your first thoughts?
A. Emma and I were introduced by our sisters at a private poker night in Mt Martha. We were less interested in the cards being played and we both found a way to be out early so we could get some alone time!
Q. When and how did the proposal take place and how did you feel?
A. The proposal took place on Lake St Claire in Tasmania. Where Mark had organised the surprise trip, fooling me that we were going to his mothers. When he turned towards the airport Mark finally told me that he was taking me to Tassie for a small getaway. He took me to Lake St Clair and we stayed in a boutique hotel called Pumphouse point. A secluded place where we took the cheese platter from the larder, went for a little bike ride to the lake at sunset and he dropped to one knee and asked me if I would be his wife. I said yes!
Q. Where are you going on your honeymoon? Please include dates of departure & return (dates are for our info only).
A. We have planned and booked a magical honeymoon to Thailand. We were there 2 years ago and it is exactly what we love. Mark entered a competition for the show ‘I’m a celebrity get me out of here'” a few weeks ago, and won an all expenses paid trip to Kakadu! We have decided to add that on to the end of our honeymoon, making this probably the honeymoon of the century!
Q. What are your future plans together (e.g. buying a house/starting a family)
A. We have so many plans for our future. Our most exciting is to start a family when we get back from our trip. We also plan to buy another house, travel, find a business that we both can run and love. We also would like to start a dog rescue….This ones a secret though cause I haven’t really talked to much about this one with Mark 😉
Q. Where is your ceremony and reception being held and why did you choose these venues?
A. While visiting Mark’s brother and Sister in-law we stumbled upon a beautiful old church in Iona, out near Bunyip. It has a rickety old bridge and a tall steeple. We instantly knew we would do whatever it took to get married there. We are lucky to have Father Bob Macguire coming from St Kilda to preside over our ceremony. We are then having a reception for 130 friends and family at their property in Ripplebrook.
Q. What does your wedding dress look like? Please give a detailed description and also include any accessories including jewellery and shoes.
A. My dress is very simple, yet elegant ivory gown that is strapless and the fabric sloping on an angle. To spice it up a little I have added a diamonte belt. It fits in perfectly with our country, rustic theme. My shoes for the ceremony are ivory heels and so that I can kick my heels up at the reception I have ordered from America, red Ariat cowgirl boots.
Q. Do you have a Theme or style to your wedding? And if so, what is it?
A. Its a rustic farm wedding but very relaxed
Q. Hair & Makeup – please describe what your hair and makeup is like and who the suppliers are.
A. Country, rustic and natural. Make up by Tania Hayes, Hair by Caroline Di Vito
Q. Who is the person conducting your service? (celebrant, minister, priest etc).
Q. Florist – what are your flowers like & who is the supplier?
A. Flowers are lillies (because Mark buys me them regularly) and I love them
Shelly from Melbourne Bridal Rose
Q. Wedding Favours & Cake – what are they like and who is the supplier?
A. We are being gifted a beautiful cake by family
Q. Transport – what mode of transport did you choose and who was the supplier?
A. We fortunately have a helicopter to ferry the bridal party around. Lucky we have a family contact 😉
Q. Food & Drink – what are they like and who is the supplier if not venue?
A. We have chosen a varying amount of boutique beers. Jones road winery
has supplied our Chardonnay and we are still buying!
