phillip island winery wedding – Dave & Louise
Dave & Louise’s Phillip Island Winery wedding was held on the 12th April 2014. Here are some words from the bride about how the couple met and their fantastic wedding day…
Q. When and how did you meet? And what were your first thoughts?
A. We met online and had our first face to face meeting at Cookie in Swanston Street in January 2012. Initially we were both quite nervous but after a drink or two the conversation started to flow and we found out each was much better than we both ever expected.
Q. When and how did the proposal take place and how did you feel?
A. Dave proposed on his 33rd birthday in Queens Park Moonee Ponds. It came as a big surprise to me as I thought I had planed the picnic in the park at our special spot for his birthday celebration, and all the while he had this secret proposal in mind. Dave could barely get the words out and I was balling my eyes out. Initially Dave claims I didn’t even answer him. I just got my phone out to call my mum and sisters and after all the calls he said ‘is that a yes’?
Q. Where are you going on your honeymoon?
A. We have already had our honeymoon in October 2013. We went on an amazing 4 week holiday in Europe. We started in London and took in as many sites as possible. The went to Copenhagen and Stockholm to visit Dave’s cousin. After this we took the most scenic train either of us has even been on from Oslo to Bergen in Norway. The train went through mountains, fjords and even a glacia (this was definitely a real highlight of our trip). From Norway we moved onto a warmer Italy. We spent a lot of time in Italy and loved the warmed weather and all the delicious food and especially the gelati. From Italy we went to Paris and both fell in love with this beautiful city and can’t wait to return again one day. After the wedding we are planing 2 nights away in the Yarra Valley at Balgownie Estate
to recover after the wedding.
Q. What are your future plans together (e.g. buying a house/starting a family)
A. We hope to renovate and extend our beautiful new home before hopefully starting our own family.
Q. Where is your ceremony and reception being held and why did you choose these venues?
A. Our ceremony is at Trenavin Chapel
in Phillip Island. We both fell in love with the chapel from afar while walking along the beach and knew it was the place we had to get married.
The reception is at the Phillip Island Vineyard and Winery
and we decided on this after meeting the owners and seeing the grounds and again falling in love. We loved the relaxed country feel and once we met Tim we knew the place would meet all of our needs well.
Q. What does your wedding dress look like? Please give a detailed description and also include any accessories including jewellery and shoes.
A. My wedding dress is from Melbourne designer Gwendolynne Burkin
. My dress is a perfect example of Gwendolynne’s design approach which explores tradition in a contemporary way. It is ladylike (without feeling over the top) and combines delicate fabric with vintage-style embellishment. It is elegant, sensual and romantic and reminds me of something out of the 1920′s.
Hair piece is a beautiful hand beaded oval comb by Melbourne milliner Richard Nylon
Earrings are beautiful vintage inspired ‘bow peep’ drop earrings with a touch of glamour by Australian designer Stephanie Browne
Shoes are embellished open toe Alan Pinkus
Q. Do you have a Theme or style to your wedding? And if so, what is it?
A. No real theme, just country, relaxed with a lot of homemade touches.
Q. Hair & Makeup – please describe what your hair and makeup is like and who the suppliers are.
A. Hair is being done by my good friend Emma. She isn’t a hairdresser but just loves doing hair and I think she is amazing. Makeup is being done by Fiona Coolegem (good friend of dave’s sister Lizzy).
Q. Who is the person conducting your service? (celebrant, minister, priest etc).
Q. Florist – what are your flowers like & who is the supplier?
A. Flowers are being provided by Mimmy’s Florist and gifts
Phillip Island. The flowers are a non structured posy with a rustic country feel.
Q. Wedding Favours & Cake – what are they like and who is the supplier?
A. Wedding cake made by Dave’s sister Lizzy Marshall.
