Melbourne Winery Wedding – Luke & Lara
Luke & Lara’s Shadowfax Winery Wedding was held on 28th March 2015. Some images were also taken at Werribee Mansion. Here is a little bit about the couple and their big day from the bride and groom themselves:
Q. When and how did you meet? And what were your first thoughts?
A. We both met at a nightclub in the city on labour day weekend 2009. Luke was breaking out some pretty bad moves on the dance floor but his stylish captains hat, long hair and handsome face caught my eye. Lara got my attention by pinching me on the bottom, I quickly turned and was amazed to find this beautiful girl looking at me with her cheeky smile.
Q. When and how did the proposal take place and how did you feel?
A. Melbourne cup weekend 2013. I disguised the proposal as a regular walk along the ninety mile beach. As Lara was looking for shells I wandered far enough away from her to write “will you marry me?” in the sand, and then she asked what I was doing. She soon realised what I had written as I knelt on one knee.
Q. Where are you going on your honeymoon?
A. We are traveling to Istanbul, Athens and Santorini.
Q. What are your future plans together (e.g. buying a house/starting a family)
A. Since getting engaged we have started new job positions, moved to Gippsland and bought our first home. We would like to go overseas sometime in the near future but starting a family, firstly by buying a puppy is on the cards.
Q. Where is your ceremony and reception being held and why did you choose these venues?
A. our ceremony and reception is at Shadowfax Winery. We are both lovers of wine and the rustic atmosphere was highly appealing. We didn’t want an extremely formal wedding, and by having the ceremony and reception at Shadowfax we could have a relaxed wedding with close family and friends. This venue was also meaningful to Lara as this was where she was working when we first started our relationship.
Q. What does your wedding dress look like? Please give a detailed description and also include any accessories including jewellery and shoes.
A. My dress is champagne gold with ivory lace and beading (pearl beads and crystal). It is a fitted silhouette styled gown with straps going into a low line v-neck and mid range back. train consists of scalloped lace with a pleated chiffon that goes under the bust/around the waist from front to back. Long silver earrings, with an ivory lace hair clip, and a single leaf patterned bracelet. ivory shoes with a diamante buckle.
