coastal wedding clifftop – Chris & Clare

Chris & Clare’s coastal wedding was held at Clifftop in Smith’s Beach on 8th April 2017.  We like to get to know our couples a little better, so we ask them some questions about how they met, their wedding day and their future plans together.  Below is Chris & Claire’s response:

Q. When and how did you meet? And what were your first thoughts?

A. Chris and Clare met in 2014 at their good friend Tess’s 30th Birthday in Ocean Grove. Tess, along with their friend Denise, had grand plans to set the couple up. Tess’s failed attempts at subtlety enabled Clare to realise something odd was going on! Clare was initially interested in Chris because he had a nice flannelette shirt on and could bounce a footy (turns out he actually had no idea about AFL). Chris was initially interested in Clare because she apparently could tell good jokes and was easy to get along with, chilled and talkative

Q. When and how did the proposal take place and how did you feel?
A. The proposal took place at Smith’s beach in Phillip Island. Clare had mentioned to Chris that if he were to ever propose, he should do it when no one else was around. So, whilst on the beach, Chris started acting very strangely whilst literally waiting for every man and his dog to leave the beach. When he finally proposed, Clare was so excited she forgot what finger the ring was supposed to go on.

Q. Where are you going on your honeymoon?
A. No plans have been set in stone yet. We plan on heading to the Whitsundays early next year.

Q. What are your future plans together?
A. We plan on upgrading to a larger house later this year and starting a family at some point. We would also love to travel a bit more together.

Q. Where is your ceremony and reception being held and why did you choose these venues?
A. Both the ceremony and reception are taking place at Clifftop in Smith’s Beach. Clare has been going to Phillip Island since she was young. Chris also proposed to Clare whilst on a mini holiday at Clifftop. Clifftop is such a beautiful venue so the location seemed a perfect choice.

Q. What does your wedding dress look like? Please give a detailed description and also include any accessories including jewellery and shoes.
A. The dress is an Anna Campbell fit and flare ivory dress. There is a scoped neckline with plenty of beading. From the waist down, the dress is made of lace. The shoes are flat with plenty of beading and jewels.

Q. Do you have a Theme or style to your wedding? And if so, what is it?
A. No theme. Just a relaxed, beach feel.

Q. Hair & Makeup – please describe what your hair and makeup is like and who the suppliers are.
A. Hair and make-up will be done by Ally De La Rosa. Hair will be mainly up with a bun to the side.

Q. Who is the person conducting your service? (celebrant, minister, priest etc).

Q. Florist – what are your flowers like & who is the supplier?
A. The supplier is Ivy Rose Events. The flowers are natural looking with pastel colours.

Q. Wedding Favours & Cake – what are they like and who is the supplier?
A. Clare’s amazing mum and her sisters are having a massive yoyo bake up to make the wedding favours. My lovely cousins wife Nicolle is making the delicious cake..

Q. Food & Drink – what are they like and who is the supplier if not venue?

A. Priors catering are providing the delicious cocktail food for the event.

Q. Is there any other supplier you would specifically like to mention:
A. Of course Lens to Life!

Music: Daniel Lunn

phillip island wedding ceremony – Anthony & Steph

Q. When and how did you meet and what were your first thoughts?
A. We met in 2008 while working at Dan Murphy’s in the refurb and new store setup team. It wasn’t until 2012 that we reconnected and our relationship began to grow. Steph thought that Anthony was a genuine, nice guy and a really hard worker with a good sense of humour. Anthony thought Steph was incredibly nice and approachable, friendly and fun.

Q. When and how did the proposal take place?  How did you feel?
A. Anthony tried to disguise his proposal as a photography location scout. We went down to several locations around Phillip Island and the final one was Pyramid Rock. This was perfect as there was no one around and gave the perfect opportunity for the moment. Anthony who is usually very good and confident with his words was not on this occasion. Having a big speech prepared could only muster up the words “Steph I love you, you know how much you mean to me and I love you”. On one knee he pulled out a box and and asked Steph to marry him.

Q. Where are you going on your honeymoon?
A. We have no plans to go on a honeymoon at the moment as we are hoping to buy some land in the near future.

Q. What are your future plans together (e.g. buying a house/starting a family)
A. After our Wedding, we’d like to focus on saving for some property, building our dream home and starting a family.

Q. Where is your phillip Island wedding ceremony and reception being held and why did you choose these venues?
A. Our ceremony and reception is at The Shearing Shed on Phillip Island. We went for a dinner date there and fell in love straight away with the venue, we knew it was the only place we wanted to get married.

Q. What does your wedding dress look like? Please give a detailed description and also include any accessories including jewellery and shoes.

phillip island weddings – Kade & Kobey

Kade & Kobey’s phillip island wedding was held at Rhyll Hall on 1st April 2017.  Below is a little more about the couple:

Q. When and how did you meet? And what were your first thoughts?
A. We met on Phillip Island in 2007 when Kade came to play football here. Initially I was “just his friend’s sister” but it was the offer of a beer and a chat that led to more. I was the older woman and did just think he was too young for me!

Q. When and how did the proposal take place and how did you feel?
A. On a sunny night in March 2016, Kade decided to take us down to Seaford beach for a beer as the sun set before dinner at our favourite Indian restaurant. There were people all over the beach and I remember distinctly babbling on about a seagull with one leg. Kade was pretty quite I now realise and was patiently waiting for the crowd to leave and me to shut up! He said some lovely things about what I mean to him and what he sees for us in the future before asking me to marry him. I was worried about having asked my Dad for his blessing, which turned into quite a funny story about missed phone calls and needing to watch the weather on TV and finish his meat and potatoes before letting Kade know that he could marry me!

Q. Where are you going on your honeymoon?
A. We are having a short ‘minimoon’ to the Gold Coast. Then later in the year we will spend almost three weeks in Borneo.

Q. What are your future plans together?
A. We have recently bought a home in Langwarrin which needs some love in the garden in the next few months and kids are definitely on the horizon!

Q. Where is your ceremony and reception being held and why did you choose these venues?
A. Our ceremony is taking place in the Rhyll Park and the reception is in the Hall at the same location. I grew up in Rhyll and my parents still live there, so it is a special place to me. It is also where we spent a lot of time together in the early days of our relationship.

Q. What does your wedding dress look like? Please give a detailed description and also include any accessories including jewellery and shoes.
A. My ivory dress is a very romantic, boho style with lace sleeves and bodice. The skirt has an ivory underskirt with a sheer and lace skirt. My veil is a long ivory tulle, lent to me by my friend Kirsty. I am wearing nude coloured low heels with tie up ankle straps. My Mum bought me a small pair of white gold and dark sapphire drop earrings. My wedding band is simple rose gold and my engagement ring is white gold with a round, brilliant cut diamond.

Q. Do you have a Theme or style to your wedding? And if so, what is it?
A. A simple, garden wedding!

Q. Hair & Makeup – please describe what your hair and makeup is like and who the suppliers are.
A. Hair by Beachside Hair & Beauty. A soft, tousled up-do to show off the lower back of my dress. Makeup by Jaimie, MAC products with a very natural colour palette.

Q. Who is the person conducting your service? (celebrant, minister, priest etc).
A. Celebrant Peta Finn. Peta is a colleague and beautiful friend.

Q. Florist – what are your flowers like & who is the supplier?

Leigh Womersley is putting all this together for us, including bouquets and reception decoration. She has also created three tee-pees of branches decorated with mason jars and flowers for our arbor. Leigh is an ex-florist who has an amazing eye for craft and flora with fabulous taste. A great friend of my Mum’s.

Q. Wedding Favours & Cake – what are they like and who is the supplier?
A. Red velvet, white mud and chocolate mud cupcakes made with love from our amazingly talented good friend Cassie James of Little Nellie Boutique

Q. Transport – what mode of transport did you choose and who was the supplier?

wedding phillip island – Jacob & Hayley

Jacob & Hayley’s shearing shed wedding reception was held on 18th March 2017.  We are interested in our couples and to get to know them a little better we like to get them to complete a questionnaire.  Here is Jacob & Hayley’s which tells us a bit about the couple, how they met and their future plans.

Q. When and how did you meet? And what were your first thoughts?
A. We were introduced almost twelve years ago through mutual friends & we hit it off!
We met at the Montrose Football Club. Jake’s first thoughts were “Gee whiz, she’s alright!” Hayley’s first thoughts were “What a top bloke!”
Our friendship grew & so did our love for each other. After six years of friendship we started dating & have never looked back.
Q. When and how did the proposal take place and how did you feel?
A. Jake proposed on the 22nd of May 2016. We were camping on the Murrindindi river for Hayley’s 30th birthday. After breakfast we went for a short walk from the campsite down to the river where Jake held my hands & got down on one knee & asked me to marry him. I couldn’t say yes fast enough & before I knew it we were engaged! It was the most amazing day. Jake was nervous & relieved. For Hayley it felt surreal – a dream come true. We were both so excited & felt completely content! Jake hand carved my ring box out of red gun. It is just beautiful!

Q. What does your wedding dress look like? Please give a detailed description and also include any accessories including jewellery and shoes.
A. Australian dress by Made With Love. The style is known as the Danni & it was nothing like what I had originally pictured myself wearing but as soon as I tried in on I knew it was the one. So much so that I couldn’t contain myself from jumping up & down whilst holding hands with the shop attendant. It has a plunging low back & is so delicately edged. It has the sweetest lace & buttons at the small of the back with a beautiful laced sweetheart neckline & thin straps – Gasp! I love my dress!!! Shoes from Jeanette Maree bridal & evening accessories.
Q. Do you have a Theme or style to your wedding? And if so, what is it?

Clifftop Phillip Island Wedding – Clint & Emma

Clint and Emma held their Clifftop Phillip Island Wedding on Saturday 4th March 2017.  Below is a little about the couple, how they met and their future plans together:

When and how did you meet? And what were your first thoughts?
First met when Emma was working at Clint’s son, William’s, school. Emma gave Clint her number to offer help as a babysitter as Will had mentioned to her that Clint was working a lot. Clint rang and asked Emma to come to the Melbourne Show with him and the kids, as he couldn’t leave Ella alone while he took Will on rides etc. They had a great day together, thinking each other was really fun but thought nothing more due to the age gap. Over the next couple of weeks Clint invited Emma to more and more things and they quickly realized that there was something there.

When and how did the proposal take place and how did you feel?
Clint proposed to Emma at Torquay.  He had spent months having the ring made and then Emma fell pregnant so he postponed the proposal until their planned trip to Torquay.  It was their first year travelling there to watch the Bells Beach RipCurl Pro. Clint asked Emma to go for a walk on the beach at sunset but as Emma was 4 months pregnant with Lakey and very sick, she didn’t feel like a walk and had a whinge about it. Clint was nearly not going to worry about it but Emma got up and said ‘alright, let’s go then’ at the last minute. Clint was very romantic about it and Emma cried with happiness. It was such a beautiful night and they spent all weekend feeling loved up and excited for all the things to come.

Where are you going on your honeymoon?
New Zealand, touring the Island’s in a Camper Van to get the most out of all the sights to see.

What are your future plans together (e.g. buying a house/starting a family)
Clint and Emma have already bought a house together and have started a family. They have planned to start the renovation on their house this year, build Emma’s career and expand the family business. There are also the plans to head away on their honeymoon and spend time with each other and the kids. Expanding the family is also a future plan depending on how long the renovation takes!

Where is your ceremony and reception being held and why did you choose these venues?
The reception and ceremony were held at Clifftop on the cliffs of Smith Beach at Phillip Island. It was exactly what Clint and Emma wanted without realizing it. As soon as they walked in they couldn’t picture anywhere else to get married.

What does your wedding dress look like? Please give a detailed description and also include any accessories including jewellery and shoes.
The wedding dress is a strapless, ivory, A-Line gown with a lace overlay, corset/lace up back and train. Emma wore no jewellery and sandals so she would be as comfortable as possible for the big day!

Do you have a Theme or style to your wedding? And if so, what is it?
No theme or style. The venue and view of the ocean was enough! Everything else would have been over the top and would have taken away from the day itself. So just the view of the ocean as the theme and whatever Clifftop normally used for weddings as the style.

Hair & Makeup – please describe what your hair and makeup is like and who the suppliers are.
Clint and Emma wanted to use all local suppliers so Emma and The Bridal Party all had their makeup and hair done at Beachside Hair and Beauty in San Remo. Everything was low key, just curled hair and Australian native flower crowns and minimal, natural make up.

Who is the person conducting your service? (celebrant, minister, priest etc).
Pam Lewis, of Phillip Island was used as the celebrant as she came highly recommended.

Florist – what are your flowers like & who is the supplier?
Flowers of Phillip Island was used for the flowers. All flowers were a of a slightly deconstructed look made with all Australian Natives.

Wedding Favours & Cake – what are they like and who is the supplier?
The wedding favours were hand-potted succulents grown by Clint and Emma from cuttings and potted into little pots found from local op-shops.

The cake was made by Emma’s Aunt who is a professional cake maker. It was pale blue with a native flower wreath placed on the front that was similar to the Bridal Party’s flower crowns. It was three tiers, Chocolate Mud on the bottom, Red Velvet in the middle and Banana on top. Yum!

Transport – what mode of transport did you choose and who was the supplier?
Clint and Emma stayed at Clifftop all weekend, so no transport was needed!

Food & Drink – what are they like and who is the supplier if not venue?
Prior’s Catering provided the food, which was a roaming cocktail affair. Mini burgers, calamari, duck crepes, arancini balls etc. Churro’s with chocolate sauce were the dessert as well as the bottom layer of the cake. The drinks were all recommended by Clifftop, including a local beer from the Island.

Is there any other supplier you would specifically like to mention:
Everyone at Clifftop were amazing! It was the most perfect place to get married! We will be going there every year for our anniversary!

RACV Resort Inverloch Wedding – Rob & Rosa

Rob & Rosa tide the knot at their RACV Resort Inverloch Wedding on the 25th February 2017.  So we can get to know our couples a little better, we like to ask them about how they met, their plans for their wedding day and their future together.  Below are Rob & Rosa’s responses:
Q. When and how did you meet? And what were your first thoughts?

A. Rosa’s friend’s boyfriend was friends with Rob and while Rob was in America Rosa was stalking him on Facebook. No wonder his face looked familiar when she and her girlfriend saw him while they were shopping at Chadstone one day! Rosa asked her friend who he was and told her she was interested in him. Rosa, from a distance, had caught Rob’s eye too, he thought to himself “What a hottie!” Funny enough Rob saw Rosa’s friend within the next few days and he also told her that he was very keen to talk to or about? Rosa. When they saw one another at Chadstone they were not introduced and didn’t even speak to each other but Rob did then add Rosa as his friend on Facebook! Rosa’s first thoughts were that Rob was “Pretty alright!” He was different but oh so cute.It wasn’t an easy first date, Rosa needed some encouragement, so much so that she made several phone calls to her sister from the Knox City car park before she would even get out of her car! Get out of the car she finally did and met Rob at The Coffee Club. He was already lining up to order when she arrived, so she had no choice but to approach him. All the while feeling sweaty and nervous. She found that Rob had a calming presence and she felt instantly at ease. Rob offered to buy Rosa a coffee but she had to tell him that she didn’t drink coffee. He then admitted he wasn’t a coffee drinker either, strange place for a first date then huh but obviously it was a match made in heaven! Rob told me that it made him like Rosa immediately and they chatted away like they had known one another for years.

Q. When and how did the proposal take place and how did you feel?
A. On a holiday in Bali over Easter last year on a warm afternoon Rosa and Rob had been swimming in the pool, having some beers and generally enjoying themselves with the family. Rob suggested they head for the Potato Head Beach Club to watch the sunset before they set out for dinner at Motel Mexicola in Seminyak. Whilst Rosa was showering in preparation for their outing, Rob raced acrossed to Pina and Carmelo’s room to grab the ring they had been hiding and to ask if he could take Rosa’s hand in marriage. They arrived at Potato Head. They weren’t there very long when Rob insisted they go downstairs to the beach. They were almost on the sand when Rosa said, “I’m not going on the sand, I don’t want to get sand in my shoes!” Finally, Rosa agreed and as she stepped on the sand Rob asked Rosa to be his wife in front of both of their families and about 300 strangers too. Rosa felt that everything froze around her and doesn’t actually remember saying yes. All she remembers saying is “Hug me” and “Are you serious?” Obviously Rob was serious or we wouldn’t be here today and obviously Rosa said yes in some way for exactly the same reason.

First met out on the town in Phillip Island in 2010, Luke spent from Dec 2010 to October 2012 hassling Stacey to meet up, Stacey finally gave in after 2 years on the 17 April 2012 and they went on their first date at Crown Casino where Luke took Stacey to the black jack room (she was not impressed).
Stacey – he was funny, very caring and wanted to do anything and everything to impress me.
Luke – I liked that fact that she is awkward as anything and tries to cover it up with even more awkward laughter.
Q. When and how did the proposal take place and how did you feel?
A. In Gilli Islands in Bali.
Luke pretended to leave his t-shirt at one of their favourite Restaurant’s and went back to “get it” and paid the little Balinese man $100 to set up a tree top shack with flowers and hearts etc. for dinner time so he could come back and propose (was like a cubby house in the tree tops overlooking the crystal clear water & white sand where you can eat).
Both felt extremely happy and lucky.  Stacey topped it off with a lot of nervous laughing before she said yes and Luke was just nervous knowing that he had to ask.
